SUSD as a Neighborhood School and Model
for Sustainability

As a progressive district that neighbors Libby Park, Sebastopol Union Schools uphold the importance of outdoor and environmental education. We support school campus habitat projects and develop strategies to enhance the exterior landscapes of our facilities. We strive to provide rich outdoor learning opportunities, study local wildlife habitats, and enhance the beauty of our campus. Our goal is to support a green energy and sustainability program in all SUSD buildings and promote a systemwide culture of sustainability.

Capital Improvement Projects

Sebastopol Union School District is committed to creating safe, inclusive, and inspiring environments that enhance learning experiences for students and educators, including maintaining a hub for community members to strengthen ties. A vast number of K-12 school buildings throughout California are more than half a century old. These aging buildings require modernization of their infrastructure, building materials, and utilities. For instance, certain exterior and interior spaces throughout SUSD are outdated and need modern amenities and technology that best reflect 21st-century educational tools. By renovating classrooms, gymnasiums, playgrounds, laboratories, cafeterias, student support service areas, and more, SUSD can best transform itself into a modernized environment.

Since 2019, Measure bonds have been utilized to invest in and fund capital improvement projects within SUSD. The facilities team, along with leadership, the council, and bond committee, works diligently to ensure that funds are spent appropriately to meet the needs of our schools.
