New Principal for Pine Crest School
From David Wheeler, Superintendent
I am very pleased to announce to our community the addition of Elizabeth Schott to our school district as the new principal of Pine Crest School. Liz Schott is a long-time Sebastopol resident who most recently has been the very successful and respected principal of McDowell Elementary School in Petaluma. Earlier in her administrative career Liz was the principal of Roseland School. From 1994-1999 Liz was a teacher at Apple Blossom School where she taught Title I Reading, a 3-4 combination class and a 5th grade class during her five years in the district. Liz graduated from Santa Clara University with a degree in Psychology in 1979 and earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from St. Mary’s College. Liz is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Educational Leadership at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Liz has been married to her husband Perry, who works for Lucky Stores in Sebastopol, for 20 years. They have two children, Francesca and Augie. Francesca is a student at Sonoma State University majoring in math. She is an Analy graduate and has helped coach in the school’s volleyball program. Augie is a senior at Analy and will attend UC Santa Barbara next year, where he hopes to play volleyball. The Schott family is an active group enjoying waterskiing, fishing, kayaking, golf, biking tennis and loud meals with family and friends. Liz and Perry both appreciate having had the opportunity to raise their family in Sebastopol and now Liz looks forward to giving back by being a principal in the community.
The applicant pool for the principal’s position at Pine Crest was very competitive with 18 original candidates. Liz emerged from this highly competitive process as the top person for the Pine Crest position through a thorough paper screening process, reference checks, and two challenging interview panels. Liz’s preparation, rich career experience and enthusiasm for our district and community make her an ideal replacement for retiring Principal Mike McBride.
